Some of the students are going straight to Tanna's  house on Thursday.  The other students are meeting at school for a ride.  Please let us know if you will be driving.  We will leave at 8:00 and be back around 2:30.

Powder Puff Game

The Powder Puff Game will be Tuesday, May 13, at 1:00.  The cost is $2.00.

Lunch Tuesday

Pre order a box lunch for Tuesday, May 13, 2014.  The cost is $5.22 for ham and cheese or turkey and cheese. the box lunch will also include fruit, cookie, and water.  count needs to be in by Monday.

We begin the recycling competition tomorrow, April 22, through April 29.  Third Grade will be collecting aluminum cans.  Please save these and send to school in a plastic bag.  We will put these in green bags at school.

The school Talent Show will be May 15, at 6:30p.m.  it is open to all grades and forms may be picked up at the office.

We only have a short time left to reach our AR Goal for the final grading period.  Please encourage your child to read their AR book.

Drivers for Easter Egg Hunt

Please return form for Easter Egg Hunt tomorrow.  Mrs. Sheree Senn will be by tomorrow afternoon to pick up eggs, candy, food, and any other items for Thursday.  Please send these to school tomorrow.

We NEED DRIVERS for Thursday for the Easter Egg Hunt.  As of Tuesday afternoon, we have NO drivers.  Please let us know if you can drive.

Also, we will not have a Reading Test on Thursday.  We will do it on Monday.
We will have a Spelling and Vocabulary test on Thursday morning.

I will try to have folders ready Thursday after we return to school.  If not, I will send folders on Monday.

First, I want to thank all the parents that went with our class on the field trip last week.  We had a great time and I hope you did also.

Important Dates and Information

Zaxby's Fundraiser Night is Tuesday, April 8, from 5pm to 9pm.  10% of sales will be donated to the school.

Zoo Field Trip forms are due by April 11.

Friday, April 11, we will dismiss at 12 noon.  We will start loading cars at 11:45.

Movie Under the Stars will be Thursday, April 17.  Gates will open at 6:45pm and the movie will begin at 7:30.  Tickets are $1.00 and available through the office.

Sorry I could not get this information out yesterday.  The computer was down.     We will have a Spelling Test Friday.  The words are easy.  spill, hill, gull, smell, mess, odd, add, cliff, mitt, fuzz, all, still, fall, till, guess, football, baseball, usually, necessary, basketball.  They got this list yesterday.

Vocabulary words are urgent, pride, unfamiliar, mourning, exhausted, surge.  We are reading chapters 9- 12.

I am sending home information about another field trip to the zoo.

Remember be at school Thursday by 7:00 for the trip to Desoto Caverns.

Field Trip Information

The field trip to Desoto Caverns is this Thursday.  Students should be at school by 7:00 to start loading the bus.    The bus will leave school at 7:15 a.m. sharp. We will return to school around 5:00 p.m. Wear your school field trip t-shirt, if you have one.  I think you got one earlier in the year.  Also, wear comfortable shoes (not sandals).  You may bring a snack, lunch will be provided at the caverns.  You may also bring an electronic game, but you must bring headphones with those

This is the last week for the 3rd nine weeks grading period.  If a student has not reached their AR goal yet, they need to do so by the end of this week.

We will have a short Social Studies Test on Tuesday.  I will send a study guide.

Also, school will dismiss at 12:30 on Friday, March 14, due to the baseball tournament.

Please continue to practice multiplication facts.  We need instant recall on basic multiplication facts.

I am sending home the March Menu for meals at school and a card that explains how you can keep up with what your child eats and spends at school.  There is also an order form for ribs.  These should be in your child's bookbag.

Watch the news on WSFA at 4:00 this afternoon and you might see your child.

Encourage your child to keep up the good work in AR.  We have almost reached our goal!

Field Trip

The Field Trip to Desoto Caverns will be April 3, 2014.  The cost is $47.58 per child or adult.  My class is limited to 10 parents.  Due to the number going, we must limit adults to one parent per child.  We would like to have all money in as soon as possible.

School Holiday

There will be no school on Monday, February 17, for President's Day.

We had a great party today.  Thanks to everyone for all the nice gifts and treats!  We had some snacks left over.  I put those in bags for snack next week.

We will be reading in the Open Court Reading book next week.  Our story is Picasso on page 248.

We have a Social Studies Test Tuesday.  Study Guide will go home today.  This one is very short.  The boys and girls did a great job last week on the big test. 

AR scores were much better again last week.  Keep up the good work.

Also, we do have some not bringing in math homework.  Let's try to do better with that this week.

VALENTINE'S DAY this Friday.  We have planned a small party for Friday at lunch. We will make our bags today. The students have already talked about what they would like to bring. If you can let me know by tomorrow, what each child is bringing, that would be great.

The Book Fair is at school this week.  Students may go to the library and purchase books and other items throughout the week.

This week in Social Studies, we will be reading about John Smith (Leader of Jamestown). 

We are writing letters and addressing envelopes in Language.  Students need to know their home address and bring an envelope and stamp to school by Thursday.

Encourage students to read AR books and keep working on multiplication facts (6-8).

I am so excited to be starting the New Year with Third Grade!  Mrs. Scott will be out for several more weeks.  We will continue to work very hard to be prepared for 4th grade.

First, I want to thank everyone for our wonderful Christmas Party.  I really love all the gifts I received! You have all been so great!  Also, a special thanks to Lauren Kilcrease for all her help that day.

Now for school information:  We are still collecting canned foods through next Friday and some students still need to turn in the $10.00 for the annual deer hunt.

We are reading Stone Fox  and we will have a Vocabulary Test and Reading Test on Friday.  The Spelling Test will also be Friday.  I sent the list home on Monday.
